Stop what you’re doing and listen up. Easter Sunday bring the return of one of the hottest parties in Birmingham, with some of the biggest local bands, DJs and more in multiple rooms. April 21st will see a cavalry of Birmingham’s best bands and DJs join forces for the Hottest date in the calendar. We’re of course talking about the iconic Hott Date!
Hott Date became infamous on the party scene for having multiple rooms of genre spanning bands and DJs, making sure there is something for everyone, and this year is no different.
Topping the bill at The Castle and Falcon this year are Sunshine Frisbee Laserbeam, a name you’ll recognise if you caught Yak perform here in March. The Brum-town indie punk outfit have released over 100 songs in the last few years, crowning the best of the best with their new album ‘Blackout Cowboy’. It’s nearly impossible to pigeon hole Sunshine Frisbee Laserbeam (not that we want to), although dark humour, surfy scuzz and lovable pop-punky riffs is a good place to start.
Joining Sunshine Frisbee Laserbeam on the line up are trashy, thrashy punk trio Bad Girlfriend, back for a second helping after a four-part EP release that saw parties throughout the year. Meanwhile, bluesy-alterantive You Dirty Blue and Modern Literature also join the ranks alongside stripped down sets from set from Gruel and Bryony Williams, before art-pop duo Liquid Cheeks complete the line up.
It wouldn’t be a Hott Date without a huge list of top-draw DJs, and this year has one of the biggest line ups to date. Tom Mason (Le Freak), Wayne Langston (Paid in Full) and Oliver Overton (Bad Ain’t Broken/The Sunflower Lounge) are joined by Brum Tropicana (Sum Cellar), Kaleidoscope (The Night Owl), Disco Pssy (Hare and Hounds), Cherry Bomb (Spotlight) and Chicks Dig Jerks (The Castle and Falcon) who will be playing everything from disco and funkadelic to hip hop, alternative, indie disco and more well into the night.
If that wasn’t enough to fill your boots, there will be street food offerings from the one and only House of Hen! Think US style soul food like chicken burgers and tenders, mixed with Korean and Asian flavours like kimchi, pickled radish and fragrant spices.
All this and more, all in one place, that’s better than a bang average Easter egg! Easter Hott Date starts takes place 2pm until 2am on Sunday, 21st April. Tickets are available now.
