November at The Castle & Falcon

Look at what’s happening this month…

November is shaping up to be one of our best months yet at The Castle & Falcon and we will be welcoming acts including Tom Walker, Flase Modesty and Mik Artistik’s Ego Trip as part of their forthcoming tours.

Kicking us off we have False Modesty and Minimal Silence performing as part of their UK tour. Formed in 2015, False Modesty are a Birmingham band drawing inspiration from the annals of rock history. Their style pays homage to bands including, ‘The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Led Zepplin, Bon Jovi.’ Their unique sound mixes indie vibes amongst screaming guitar solos and grooving bass. Minimal Silence are a dynamic four piece indie rock and roll band from the West Midlands, their melodic bass, 70’s and 80’s guitar riffs, thundering drums and gritty female vocals are enough to get anyone’s foot tapping and head banging. So grab yourself a ticket here.

Another November gig highlight of ours is Mik Artistik’s Ego Trip. Performing on 10th November the band have played Glastonbury four times and over 20 festivals. Having since received airplay on BBC Radio 1 and continuing to tour up and down the country they are going from strength to strength. Described as comedy fused with rock & roll this band write  their own material taking ideas of experiences that make them laugh.  Come and check them out! Listen to them performing live here.  Get tickets here.

On the 24th November Lush Birmingham will be holding a night of music in aid of Coventry Peace House. Coventry Peace House is used by the local community for various projects and also offers a night shelter for refugees. Donations of sugar, breakfast cereal, rice, jam, toothbrushes, toothpaste, cooking oil, instant coffee, toilet rolls, washing powder are welcome. You Dirty Blue, Sofa King and The Chalet Lines will be playing. Tickets cost £5.50 and are available here, money goes towards Coventry Peace House.

Scottish born singer songwriter Tom Walker takes to our stage on the 25th November as part of his UK tour. Currently taking 2017 by storm Tom Walker builds on his debut EP on Relentless Records with the release of huge new track ‘Heartland’ co-written and produced by Naughty Boy. His recent release follows critical acclaim from tastemakers ‘The Sunday Times, Pigeons&Planes, Wonderland, Shortlist and MTV.’ His debut Blessings EP was co-produced with Jim Abbis, who has worked with Adele and the Arctic Monkeys! Tickets are SOLD OUT for this one. It’s due to be a great night so if you’ve got a ticket get down early!

October at The Castle & Falcon

With the leaves beginning to fall from the trees, the chills of the first frost approaching, it means only one thing, Autum is arriving. We’ve been busy preparing some incredible shows and line-ups for our autumn season, to say we’re excited doesn’t even begin to cover it. So, to get you in the mood as well, here is some of our highlights on what’s happening over the next month.

Kicking us off on Friday 6th October are our friends Punks Alive who present to you a feisty punk-rock gig featuring You Want Fox and Inkbomb. You Want Fox, a duo from Nottingham, formed in 2015 and released there debut single ‘Bad Girls’  which has reached 20,000 views on YouTube, since then the band have appeared on BBC Radio Introducing and other local shows. Joining them on the night will be Inkbomb, coming all the way from Nijmegen in the Netherlands, a really exciting band whose early performances have been heavily talked about. Their music can be described as a mix of Bad Religion, Pears and No Fun At All. Tickets for this gig are only sold on the door at £8.

Next up on the 7th October we have a special intimate gig with John Power. Best known as the frontman from CAST and the backing vocals and bassist in The La’s, he’s back to perform as part of his UK solo tour. We’ve been looking forward to this one for months and to celebrate we will be holding an official extended afterparty straight after the gig. DJs will be playing the very best in soul, jazz, funk, disco and more!  Limited gig ticket availability* and it’s likely to sell out so get yours before they do. Get your tickets here.

The following weekend (13th & 14th) sees the return of our twice monthly afterparty, Social 11, expect DJ Cassie-Philomena Smyth playing the tunes you love to hear all night long. Saturday sees our newest promoters to come on board with us, The Catapult Club, host four great local bands; The Nature Centre, The Dollcanoes, The Crooked Hooks and Exotic Pets. This promises to be a great night full of local faces all out to help support four Brummie bands that we love. Tickets available here.

Punks Alive return on the 21st October with another killer lineup headlined by Mutant Reavers. Formed in late 2014 these guys rose from the wasteland swamps of Kiel in Germany. Since recording there first 4 song debut, “First Blood” the guys have gone on to tour the world with a unique sound that is as deadly as there name. Tickets for this gig are only sold on the door and cost £8.

The end of the month will see us transform the venue for a special Social 11 Day Of The Dead Halloween Party. DJs Lee & Aero will be playing hip-hop, 90’s, old skool and a bit of hispanic to get you in the mood. We will be rolling out our new cocktail bar for you to feast your eyes on too! Advance tickets cost £3 with no booking fee so if you want to save yourself some pennies go grab one of these limited tickets from here.

All tickets to our events can be found here.

*John Power gig ticket includes entry to the official after show.
